WO1 Bozinski was KIA on 15 Aug 1969, while serving as co-pilot of a UH-1 Huey for the 174th AHC in Vietnam. His aircraft was flying in formation at 200 feet AGL as trail aircraft on a combat assault in 515 valley when it was hit by .51 caliber anti-aircraft gun. The enemy fire was intense and concentrated, resulting in main rotor mast separation and loss of the tail boom. The helicopter crashed on a hill, rolled down into a ravine and burned. Besides the crew of four, there were 6 infantrymen on board. All 10 passengers and crew were killed. For names of the others aboard, go to:( www.174ahc.org/174ahc3.htm#WO1Shields). Mr Bozinski was from Superior, WI. I did not know him but have honored him with his own page at: army.togetherweserved.com/army/servlet/tws.webapp.WebApp?cmd=Profile&type=Person&ID=41074. Anyone with details, personal stories, or photos of John Bozinski may contact CW4(R) Mike Rathge at blackisnotacolor@gmail.com. (I believe the other crewmembers are also missing from this site. Again, their names can be found at www.174ahc.org/174ahc3.htm#WO1Shields).

That incident is listed on the website www.armyaircrews.com/huey_nam_69.htmlThe listings are in reverse chronological order from latest to earliest, which puts this incident about midway down that page.
