The information that you have posted for the July 1980 SOAR accident is a little bit off. The aircraft was enroute from Norton AFB CA to Dugway Provings Ground UT (not Ft Bragg) to rejoin the main body of the exercise. This was my aircraft and we had left it behind at Norton to complete phase maintenance when we forward deployed to Dugway.
