I am looking for information regarding an aircraft crash in Thailand on 18 January 1964. I believe it was a U.S. Army helicopter, although I don't know what model. One of the passengers who was killed was Wing Commander Alan John Lee of the UK Royal Air Force. He was assigned to Project Agile, a DARPA program in Thailand. Thanks.

Mario, here is what I found on the crash:
From the Oakland Tribune dated 18 JAN 64:
SAIGON, South Viet Nam (AP) - Communists shot down a US Army escort helicopter in the Mekong River delta battle today and two American servicemen and a British officer aboard it were reported missing and feared dead.
The helicopter, a rocket-firing UH1A, was downed near the mouth of the Mekong River. Two crewmen were fished out of the water near the crash site. They apparently were not hurt.
The Briton was identified as a wing commander named Lee, a member of the Royal Air Force, who is attached to a combat development test center in Thailand.
Though witnesses saw five persons floundering in the water after the stricken ship fell into the sea about a mile offshore, only two were afloat when other helicopters darted to the rescue.
They were the co-pilot and a gunner.

This is definitely true, WC Allan Lee was my uncle and his death caused great distress in our family. I remember it well
