Two 82nd Medical Company Soldiers were killed and two injured along with two other non-Army service members during a UH-60A Helicopter crash on 08 August 2006 at 2015 local in Iraq. The aircraft crashed into approximately 12 feet of water and came to rest upside down. Of the four Army personnel, the 25 and 26-year-old SGTs were unable to exit the aircraft and were killed. The 29 and 35 year-old CW2s (pilots) along with the non-Army service member passengers received minor injuries and were returned to duty. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the USACRC.

The flight was not an area fam flight either. The crew was out doing pinnacle landings, unaided, past sunset when they put the aircraft into the lake. I was in that unit at the time of the accident.
