My friend and fellow attack aviator, CWO Kenneth P. Shriver was killed Feb 14 1994, location unknown, but believed to be in an AH-64 Apache. Information appreciated. LTC Hugh Mills hmills16@aol.com

As I recall Ken was in an Apache over Louisiana and lost a main rotor blade. This would have been around 1990, but I can't remember all of the details.

Ken was one of the IP's at Yuma in 1980 and taught us new WO1's in the 155th how to fly with NVG's. A great guy and hell of a pilot. He was with CW4 Don Rollins returning from the east coast and lost a good portion of the main rotor head due to a possible strap pack failure. I believe they were just east of Shreveport La. They worked for Rockwell/Collins. It was an AH-64A and may have been AVO13

Dragon Slayer 06 from Shangri-La 204 (B8/8 Mainz- Finthen.) Had the pleasure to work with Ken Shriver and Don Rollins at Hanau late '93 as they installed SATCOMS on six 2/227th Apache aircraft. Was sorry to hear about their crash shortly after leaving Germany. They had received an aircraft from Ft. Eustis and were flying it to Shreveport to be utilized for testing with Lockheed/Martin of whom they were contracted. Their boss had been, I believe a Ben Garza. LTC Cody (now General Cody) was in charge of the SATCOM Installation mod while they were in Germany. He might be able to give you more details about the crash. At the time we were going through an upgrade of strap packs due to a failure outboard on the pitchhorn. Supposedly the aircraft from Eustis had not had the mod. Hope this helped some. Megan: I flew to Shreveport the day after your dad died (at your mom's request) and helped your mom and family deal with the aftermath of the crash. I also was part of the accident investigation. Our families were very good friends. I've lost your mom's address and would very much like to catch up with how she's doing.
