I'm a scale modeler looking for any info on the Huey involved in this incident. It was shot down by guerrillas on 2 Jan 1001.
Specifically, if anyone has any pictures of this helo, serial number, knows of any specific markings, etc. Lastly, I've seen some pictures that show Hueys flying in this area fitted with the ALQ-144 IR jammer under their tail boom. I've never seen that before, any pictures of that installation or details would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
John

John; Don't have any pictures or numbers of the aircraft. I was an Insturctor Pilot with the unit. We did have IR jammers and you should be able to research info on these. We also carried AN/APR 39 radar warning devices, sadly our only defense against the guys shooting small arms was return fire if necessary from door mounted M-60 machine guns on our hueys. Wish these guys would of had the opportunity. Sherman Bennett
