We were in the hanger right next to you. We had 6 H-model Huey's and three EH-1's prior to getting our EH-60's. We also had 6 OH-58A/C's and 6 OH-58D's. We did a lot of ash and trash, but supplemented Echo Co. on Air Assaults when needed. We went to NTC a few times, and REFORGER in Jan. 90. I had a great time while stationed there, just wish I kept in touch with more of the gang. I keep in touch with some friends from 10th Mountain, but lost track of everyone from 2AD and 6thCAV. I would love to get a hold of some of the guys. I did know some Echo co. guys, in fact Tim Ward was my roommate in Korea...let me know if you are in touch with anyone. Mike Good to hear from you. I have contacted a few of the CE's and just a few pilots from my old unit. Was it TIM Ward or RICK Ward. I know there was a Rick Ward. You can see a partial list of CE's and Pilots from my unit at the following URL: www.armyaircrews.com/about.html Went to UH-1 course at Ft. Rucker fall of 1984. Does anyone know where SFC. Richardson is? from the the training company. Awesome man. He could sing cadence. Went to 6th Cav. at Ft. Hood 1984, then onto the 502nd aviation co. 2AD. During the fall 1985 a platoon of us crew chiefs and warrant officers shipped out to Honduras. There we flew many, many hours all over Central America, including the hot war zone along the border of Honduras and Nicaragua and into El Salvador. I'm attempting to get my expeditionary medal as I write this, but it seems difficult because there is no known paper trail that we even went to Honduras, El Salvador and what we were doing. Not sure if is still classified so I won't go there. But can anyone help? Nothing shows on DD-214. I have two letters from others in the unit with first hand knowledge that we were there. I also went down in very hard landing at the capital of Honduras in the spring of 1985. We were taking off with a full load of infantry just after a C-130 landed. I would like to find the records of that incident or anyone thats knows of that crash. We dropped from about 100 feet as I recall. I just remember the airship almost flipped over after we hit the ground. Many more experiences in that part of the world and history that I probably can't talk about to this day. I can report we, I had quite a few close calls with death. Anyway, god bless the United States of America! and the new generation of crewman in Iraq, Afganistan and throughout the world. John Scanlon, former proud Huey crew chief. 1983-1986-(1987 Dustoff reserves)

I guess I should introduce myself before I start commenting, but it's late and I couldn't help but see that my roommate, Mark (I mean Mike), that I lived a year with in Korea couldn't get my name right. I have Mike on Facebook and I'm going to have to give him a hard time about that. I guess it's understandable, we were in Korea. I will get back on within a few days and actually introduce myself. I should have done this a long time ago.

I was stationed at Fort Hood 79-81, 528th transportation company, 169th maintenance battalion, 13th Coscom. We were an avim unit supporting the rotary wing units on base . I was on a crash recovery team at that time also. I will never forget having to go to the crash site of OV-1C Mohawk # 68-15935 outside Lampasas Texas in January of 1981 to recover the remains of CW3 Sandy Oliphant , SSGT Roger Meadows and the wreckage of their aircraft It took us a week to clean the side of this hill and a large pasture downrange for several hundred yards. I drove the 5 ton tractor with the long lowboy trailer. We also took along a few M-35A2's pulling a water buffalo & a cargo trailer containing our GP large tent, recovery tools and C-rations. We also had one of our UH-1H's onsite for the runs back and forth to Fort Hood. I will never forget the things I saw that week we were out there

I am a nephew of SSGT Roger Meadows and was stationed at Fort Hood with HHT 1/7CAV from Aug 2002-Jan 2004. Thank you for efforts toward giving my uncle a decent burial. It always meant a lot to my Aunt Vera. Having spent 8 years in the army, including a year in Iraq; We all sign a blank check when we enlist, and no one knows when that check will get cashed...
