Army chopper hit power lines, crew escapes injuryFORT RUCKER, Ala. The Army says three crewmembers escaped injury last night when their U-H-60 Blackhawk helicopter struck an electricity transmission tower and power lines last night during a routine training mission. According to a statement from Army Safety officials at Fort Rucker, the aircraft suffered extensive damage estimated at more than one (m) million dollars. The helicopter's flight instructor and two student pilots suffered no injuries and were released from a local hospital after being examined. The military said the accident, which is under investigation, occurred in the vicinity of the Bellwood community in Dale County.
