I do not know the exact date of the death but it was the last week of NOV 2000.
The aircraft was from TF 2-501 AVN out of Fliegerhorst AAF, GE and was flying in support of KFOR2A.
The unit was inserting a group of SOCCE (I believe they were SEALS) in Kosovo when a junior enlisted member fell out of the aircraft. I believe the circumstances were that a PFC crewcheif opened the door on short final. The Sailor thought the aircraft was on the ground and stepped out of the aircraft at around 150ft AGL. The Sailor fell through trees onto a hill side and it took around an hour to find him. The trees had apparently slowed his fall and he was barely alive when found. They tried to MEDEVAC him to Bondsteel, but he died enroute.
The accident happened they day before TF 1-501 AVN arrived and the investigation was concluded under KFOR 2B.

The accident actually happened on Thanksgiving Day. Your facts are correct on how it happened.
